Chapter 25(Epilogue)
Three years later… I stare at my husband of the last three years and smile as he plays with our daughter on the beach. Who knew that 5 years ago when I started crushing on the bad boy we would wind up here? Married with a beautiful daughter. I loved watching them play together on the sand. They were building a sand castle fit for a princess. After all Savanna was our princess. I couldn’t help the big smile on my face soon I noticed Jeff was beside me and that Lori our nanny was now on the sand with Savanna. Jeff leaned over and kissed my cheek. “What has you smiling so big” “I am happy Jeff.” “Ya” he huskily whispered as he kissed my lips “What has you so happy?” I don’t know maybe the fact I am married to the man I love more than life itself and we have the most beautiful daughter in the world and” There I hesitated not sure how to say what I wanted to say. “And?” Jeff prompted me. “And…that we are having another baby in a few months” I saw the goofy grin on his face “another baby?” “Yes, Jeff another baby I took the test this morning. I am about six weeks pregnant” He pulled me up off the bench I was sitting on and swung me around crashing our lips together. I couldn’t keep myself from laughing. I loved this man so much. Yes we had a rough start but now things were going so well for us. We married shortly after Savanna turned one. We had found our own house and moved out on our own and had taken to being a small family well. Now that it was ever just us at our house. Our friends were always coming by but we didn’t mind too much. Now here we were expecting our second child and I feel like life couldn’t get any more perfect for us. I don’t know how I got so lucky.
Lance had taken a more active role in the family business and was actually set to takeover completely in less than six months. Jeff was Lance’s right hand man in the business. The two of them made a great team and loved working together. They were both doing the job they were born to do. Steve was the only one of the inner circle to head off to college. He would be graduating soon and then was headed off to law school he planned to work in my dad’s law firm as soon as he passed the bar exam and would take over that aspect of the family business. Beth and Amy were also both off to college and while Beth and I had kept in touch Amy and I didn’t. Beth planned to return home after she graduated with a degree in fashion. She planned to open a clothing store along with designing her own fashions here locally. I couldn’t wait for her to be back permanently. Brian was still working under Lance and was one of his most trusted guys. Lance and Brian also were still major players and had yet to settle down with a girl. They always teased Jeff about settling down to early with me. Jeff would always tell them they didn’t know what they were missing out on.
Connor was the one who didn’t fair so well, some point after graduating high school he became hooked on the drugs he was suppose to be selling and soon went crumbling downhill until he hit rock bottom. Even though my dad did everything he could do for Connor it wasn’t enough. Connor is serving a 10-year prison sentence. Things had changed in the inner circle no one new was brought in and Lance and Jeff trusted few. I probably trusted less people then those two combined. I never went anywhere without a weapon on me at all times. I sometimes feel bad about it but I killed a man when I was 19 but it was either let him kill me or me kill him. I chose to live after all I had a husband and daughter to live for. It’s funny even though I currently have no active role in the family business it seems like I always have to get mixed up with it anyway.
Life was great for me on the whole. I wouldn’t change any part of it even when Jeff left me for a time and I went through the broken heart it helped me become who I am today a mafia princess who is not afraid of life. A mafia princess who has found happiness in life.
